Darren O'Neill's 11890 Killester maintained their 100% start to the season with a thrilling 69-59 victory over Mark Keenan's UL Eagles in front a a packed house at the IWA.
The home side led 14 12 at the end of the first quarter thanks to the brilliance of Pete Madsen who notched half his sides points.
O'Neill used a lot of his young squad in the second and third quarters as they trailed 32 26 at half time. Eagles had a purple patch midway through the third quarter and went into an 11 point lead. At this point enter Robbie Clarke who scored 7 points and had a wonderful defensive rebound followed by an outlet pass to Jermaine Turner for a basket. Turner and Madsen added crucial scores and Killester were up 51-49 at the end of the third quarter.
Killesters Spaniard Mariano Gomez who moved up from the clubs Division 1 team this year came to life in the fourth quarter with 10 points as the home side went on to win by 8.
