UL Eagles 80 11890 Killester 68
Mark Keenan’s UL Eagles got one over on his former club 11890 Killester beating the Dubliners 80-68 in Limerick after trailing 65-64 in the final quarter. Keenan was delighted to get another win under his belt after a slow start.
“Personally I’m just really happy that we won. It doesn’t really matter who it was against and how we did it, we stuck with it all day and came up with some big scores and rebounds down the stretch. Jason Killeen had a superb MVP performance. Our defensive performance was terrific. Importantly we held Jermaine Turner to 13 points. It’s a great win for us”
His opposite number Darren O’Neill was disappointed with the result. “Mark (Keenan) did a great job with Jefferson and Killeen restricting Jermaine, but we were up by 7 at the end of the first quarter, led at half time and were 65-64 up late in the game and couldn’t buy a basket in the last 90 seconds and conceded 16 points”
