11890 KILLESTER ON THE DOUBLE

 

There was a Superleague Cup double for 11890 Killester at the IWA on Saturday.

Last years men’s runners up 11890 Killester are through to the last four after a difficult enough 83-69 victory at home to Moycellen.

Jermaine Turner hit 21 for the winners while Moycullens inpressive Spanish newcomer Salva Camps also had 21.

Killester controlled the first quarter and offensively were pretty good but defensively thay had some glaring lapses to allow the westerners back into the game in the second quarter to leave it level at 42 apiece at half time.

Darren O’Neill was not a happy camper at this stage and whatever he said printable or not his boys came out like a different team in the third quarter and stretched into as much as a 20 point lead and more importantly held Moycullen scoreless for over six minutes.

When Luke Enos got injured in the fourth quarter that was the opportuinity to rest Jermaine Turner with the important Nivea for Men Superleague game againt UCD Marian in Greendale.

O’Neill was able to run his entire bench and all ten scored which was a huge bonus in a 14 point victory.

Killester coach Darren O’Neill was glad to get the win. “It was so important, we needed that win after our one point losss away to Bord Gais Neptune. We were always on a loser in this one. I thought that we were fine offensively in the first half but at times we were awful defensively”

“We were expected to win but Moycullen put up a terrific fight particularly in the first half but we stretched out in the second and it was nice to get all our players on the scoresheet” said O’Neill.
