It was a disappointing weekend for Mark Grennell's girls as they went down 68-60 in Limerick but then lost 72-59 in Waterford.
Grennell admitted the games and the travelling took a lot out of the girls "It was a tough weekend all right, I guess we didn't work hard enough on the simple things like our rebounding but we really played well at times and there were positives"
Waterford Wildcats bounce back following last week’s defeat to secure a 13 point win over Dubliners Killester 72- 59.
Killester suffered a double blow this weekend following defeat to Waterford Wildcats and UL. Killester were two points down at half time and the tie was evenly balanced. Waterford Wildcats had a poor defensive display in the opening half; however the Deise side found another gear in the third quarter and stretched the gap. Wildcats gathered had the momentum going into the 4th, led by their experienced top scorers Kate Maher (20) and Niamh Mullally (16) and Jenny Coady (13), Wildcats showed their maturity to close out the game and get those all important points.
Waterford Wildcats Head Coach, Tommy O’Mahony was delighted with the manner of the win. “I was looking for a strong performance, I knew we were capable of winning today, but we needed that performance. It was important to bounce back with a win following last week’s poor display against Ulster Rockets.”
