11890 Killester 48  UL Basketball Club 73

UL proved much too strong for Mark Grennells 11890 Killester despite some excellent work in the second quarter.

Killester never got out of the blocks in the first quarter and were 22-13 down at the end of the quarter. Grenell’s side got going and pulled the deficit down to 7, 38-31 at half time. Having found their groove, Killester started to play some excellent basketball. Passing the ball well and if it wasn't for Vanderwal and Fahy it could have been even closer in the second.

However UL’s Canadian born UK international Rachel Vanderwal ran the show in the second half as James Weldons side stretched into a 62-37 lead at the end of the third quarter after a 24-6 run. The strength and scoring power was much too much for Killester and the champions eventually won 73-48.
