Preseason Tournament.
We played 3 games on the Saturday. Liffey Celtics were up for as the opening game of the tournament. The team was looking forward to this as we have not had an opportunity to play much basketball so far in preseason. This match went well as all 11 dressed players shared time and played hard, we ran out easy winners with everyone getting a good work out.
In the second game, we faced off against a tougher opposition in Glanmire. It was again a good work out. An uptempo game that had both teams digging deep. There were mistakes made but also a lot of good things to build on. Our Ladies were just a bit off the pace basketball wise, while creating a host of what will surely be easy chances later in the season, on this occasion the ball just would not drop in. Glanmire won this game and with it took the group honours to advance to the semi, leaving our ladies team to play a cross group playoff game.
In the 3rd and final game in a long day, we faced Oblate Dynamo's. The girls still played hard despite sore bodies and mental tiredness. Killester Superleague Ladies led from start to finish in this game and finished the day in encouraging fashion.
Coach Grennell said, " The girls really handled themselves well and it gave us a good view of where we are at right now and let us know where we need to be and what needs work. I know the effort that the group has put in thus far and I am pleased with where we are right now. I guess my biggest worry was picking up muscle injuries in what is a tough day of basketball. I think we got lucky that just Elaine Stone picked up a thigh strain and hopefully will only miss a week."
