11890 Killester Women 2 in a Row!
In a bright start 11890 Killester looked like they would control the game, however a string of missed lay up opportunities cost the visitors. Meteors behind the ex Killester player Jade Daly got going and took control of the game. Outscoring the visitors by a scoreline of 22 to 16.
11890 Killester stepped up their play behind the good work from Julie Kavanagh and Fiona Ward clawing back the lead built up by Meteors. Julie and Fiona Carrick chipped in 5 points each this quarter. Killester got themselves up 27 to 31 and looked to be in control. Rebecca Nagle scored 5 quick points to give the home side the lead and Jade Daly hit a 3 to finish the half to give the hosts their 6 point lead at the half.
The 3rd quarter was a good quarter for the Killester Ladies. Elaine Stone led the way with 6 points but the credit must go to the defence as they held Meteors to 8 points in the quarter to take control of the game. Winning the qtr 15-8 and with that taking the lead into the 4th qtr.
Our ladies threatened at times that they might pull away but too many easy chances went begging. In what was a nervous 4th for both team. Killester's experience and defence saw them hold meteors to just 6 points in the 4th which left them winning a close encounter by 3 points.
Next game is a double header where Killester welcome both UL teams to the IWA on Saturday.
