O’NEILL HAPPY WITH RUN OUT IN LIMERICK.
Although his 11890 Killester team lost two of the three games Darren O’Neill was reasonably happy with what he saw over the weekend at the Stuart Robbins Tournament.
“I wasn’t there for the game on Friday against the Welsh All Stars but by all accounts the young lads did well while Michael Westbrooks was making his first appearance after injury. Jonathan Grennell ran the bench and even without Jermaine (Turner) in the overtime period they could have won the game. They eventually lost 70-67.
“Our first game on Saturday was a rematch of the cup final against one of my old clubs UCD Marian and although we lost 71-67 I saw a lot that made me happy particularly with the young players”.
“It must be remembered that we have lost six of last years squad and we are very young but I can see an improvement in every game and in every practice session”.
“The final game was of little importance against Bord Gais Neptune and we both ran our benches and for a lot of the game there were only Irish players on the court and to get a 57-50 victory was hugely important” said O’ Neill.
