It's all good stuff, keep it coming! here is a sample of some of the best!
*************************
Eamonn Molly - considering he is still playing and he was there at the foundation of the state, he must be the killester player of all time, probably the irish player of all time
*************************
Killester rarely have americans that stick for years at a high level so therefore i have to go with Elie for not only his leading us to some titles over here he also went on to win the highest possible honor in basketball nba titles...... i believe he is an assistant with the Dallas Mavericks now too!
*************************
Eamonn Molloy - Best point you've had since i've been playing in dublin, and that stretches back to 1969. He's also alot of fun to travel to a masters tournament with

I think the leggy blonde from Colorado was Kate Wyemburgh, if this was a beauty pageant she'd win it hands down, but it's not so back to reality lads..
Imports first, there has been many contenders over the years, from defensively dominating KT (Kelvin Troy), the long arms of the law Jerome Westbrooks, the inside power house Kenny Perkins, the unbelievable shooting of Marchelle Henry, the finesse of Hilary Scott but for me it's gotta be Mario Ellie, he had it all..
having played with both Pat(ser) Grennel and Damien Sealy they come close for me for top spot on the Irish mens section, Damien just ahead by a few inches i think.. Paddy Kelly is a definite contender in a few years time. And last but by no means least, the Irish ladies, well it's so hard to choose one, they where all great, lets just leave it at that...

Eamon Molloy, I have played with Eamon and have found him to be a solid point guard. He also uses his play and words to motivate the players around him.

Foreign Player:
On the Court I'd have to go with Kelvin Troy on this. He showed a level of intensity that was rarely seen in Irish Basketball, giving an idea to other players on what you are up against when if you leave the Irish shores.
On and off the court, I'd go with Jerome, his contributions to Irish basketball are immense and he leaves a great legacy.
Home Player:
On pure cockiness, has to go to Eamonn Molloy. At a time when most players were giving the ball to the paid pro for the last shot, Eamonn would either take the shot himself or give it to WHOMEVER had the best chance of making it.

If we are to talk about pure basketball ability, I would have to say that Pete Doyle would be my choice for Killester's greatest ever player. He is most intelligent player I have ever seen play, his reading of the game is second to none. He seems to have eyes on the back of his head, he knows everything that is happening on the court. He is such a prolific shooter of the ball and he has shown throughout his career that he is absolutely deadly from anywhere within 6 feet. It has been said that if Pete was not so prone to injury then he would probably be playing in the NBA right now and I bet there are many defenders in that league who are glad he isn't.

Men's: Damien Sealy- Fantastic all round player who always showed a great attitude both on and off the court
Women's import: Sue Altman- Such a natural ball player, fantastic skill.

The greatest player EVER to play for killester is without a doubt Jerome Westbrooks (aka:Big J).
Obviously some people may feel as if I'm being bias, but just wait and hear me out:
1.His athletic ability is close to unbelievable. Legend has it, at the tender age of 40, he jumped over a chair leaving from the free-throw line only to flush it with authority.
2.His defensive presence on the court is dominating. He's an older less handsome version of his younger middle son.(who is also a candidate for GREATEST player ever)
3.Last but not least, his range on the basketball court is scary....literally!
Anybody agree with me??

You have posed a very difficult question. It is almost impossible to compare players of the short shorts era with those of the later & much longer ones.
But I've asked around, in pubs mainly, & have come up with my suggestions.
Irish Men
I think Michael Casey, the incredible hulk, was the best Killester player of the swinging 1960s.
I know Martin Grennell of the flowing locks was the best player in the country in the 1970s.
In the 1980s it had to be the smooth ball handler Eamonn Molloy.
For the naughty 1990's it's a difficult decision but I'd give the award to the point guard Jonny Grennell.
In the 21st century I would go for the flamboyant Patrick Kelly.
Women
There was a tall and really attractive American blonde from Colorado who would get my vote if I could just remember her name! I don't really know the girls as I only followed men's basketball. My apologies for what I have undoubtedly missed.
Foreign Men
I was amazed, bemused & entertained by so many superstars from all over the world but enigmatic Kelvin Troy must get my first preference.
Keep up the good work, the site looks great.

Damien Sealy -
He was a key player over the last decade but especially the last 6-7 years. He has won everything with the club. He is an ex-Irish International. The man once won a game for ireland with a buzzer beater jumper in the arena.
