Sunday October 19th

An eventful week which started with a very enjoyable training on Monday night. Tuesday is a night off for me so I went shopping with Bonaparte before I went on to the committee meeting in Killester. After the meeting I went to try my luck in the gym to lift all those heavy things and make those funny faces while doing so. On Wednesday I was on the Luas out to Tallaght with work and I saw one of the funniest things. There was an 80-something year old man driving a moped on the path! I cracked up laughing at it! That was the highlight of my day cos I didn’t enjoy training that night too much as my team got destroyed in the scrimmage during training. Instead of having training on Thursday night Coach decided to play against a D3 college team that were over touring. We beat them handy enough in a crap game. Good win all the same with the Big Dogg, Eoin McDermott being our stand out player. But it was me who had the move of the game. Their guy was D-ing me up, and what he was doing to me is illegal in some parts of the world. So to get him off me I called the offence “push”, to get a lane to the basket. I went by him but as I was on my first step I thought “what the hell am I doing”. As I was up in the air I looked around for someone to pass to, but suddenly I remembered John “Hang Time” Behan teaching me how to hang in the air like Jordan. So that I did. I must have been up there a good 5 or 6 seconds. Like their guys had landed and were on their way back up to try block me again and I was still up there. It actually reminded me of Jordan’s move to what I had just done. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BEjcVPrOIcQ&feature=related . Thankfully I made the reverse lay-up. I was strutting back on D, smiling like an 11 year old after scoring his first ever basket. Just incase I got a big head, after the game Damian (Sealy) congratulated me on my sick move but then pointed out I threw the ball away just after. Cheers Damo! Friday I got to hang out with Elaine and I even got a nice power nap in while she helped my little sister, Michelle (who is taller then Elaine) with her Math’s homework. Saturday I knocked around to Mark Grennell’s gaf to chill out with him and Jonny before our games. We watched Wigan boss Liverpool in the football. Jonny, who is a Spurs fan was laughing at me and Mark cos Wigan were twice ahead. But Mark and I had the last laugh as the ‘pool came back to win and went joint top of the league. As for Spurs, they’re still bottom last. They’re looking more like Mid-Sutton now, without being disrespectful to Mid-Sutton of course. I had to go to the IWA early cos Elaine was playing Killester at 6. It was a frustrating game from a Killester fan’s point of view. To be fair Tolka did play well against a Killester team missing 2 starters through injury. I’m sure the cup game in a few weeks will be closer. At 8 o’ clock it was the main event. We played Limerick Lions. Again we didn’t perform but still won, barely. It took us overtime to beat them which never should be happening. Personally I didn’t enjoy the game. I was just getting frustrated at the ref’s, which is something I rarely do but I just felt they weren’t in control of the game. If they were in control Paddy “Chris Benoit” Kelly would never have been ejected. But anyways we won by 4 and that takes us to 3-0. We went down to the Beachcomber after the game to celebrate. A few of the lads head into town but I went back to Fi Ward’s 21st down in Raheny. Was a good laugh. Few funny stories too, like Jonny Crowe getting his €600 blackberry phone broken by Barron and Karl waiting outside Pete’s house for like 3 hours..locked! Haha! There was great news as Peter Ward announced to everyone he is now dating Paula Brophy. Congratulations to both of them on the great news! Sunday was a chill out day as I’m flying to Cork on Monday morning with work then back for Monday night training to get ready for our trip up north to face UUJ next Saturday.

Well til next time, you stay classy Killester.

Robbie
