Development
Killester Basketball Club’s development programme gives children from ages 5-10 yrs an introduction to the game of basketball. We teach FUNdamentals with the emphasis on FUN.
On average we have between fifty and sixty boys and girls in our programme currently. Our programme runs all year round and the children are taught not only to play basketball but about life skills and how to respect each other while working within a team.
In Killester we feel it is important to start the children this young as in this day and age childhood obesity is a huge factor in Ireland and hopefully getting involved in a team and a club that they can keep growing with will help these children.

All Ireland School’s U19 A
Jerome Westbrooks Holy Faith Clontarf were crowded the Under 19 A Girls All Ireland Schools League Champions after an impressive performance over Coláiste Íosagáin on a final scoreline of 44 - 34 making it a great coaching week for the Westbrooks family..
HFC's captain, Amy Russell, was named the ‘MVP’ after finishing with a powerful performance and 16 points to her name.
The atmosphere for this final was nothing short of electrifying as both teams arrived backed by a mass of ecstatic supporters to cheer them on. But, it was HFC's Russell who opened this thrilling final with not one, but three quick scores for her side. Both teams played extremely tough defence and this was reflected in the score as the first quarter finished 10 - 5 to HFC.
Coláiste Íosagáin came out all guns blazing at the start of the second with Cliona Máirtin silencing the HFC crowd with a big three point shot for her school. The pressure continued to mount, as did the foul count with both teams visiting the free throw line on numerous occasions.
However, Coláiste Íosagáin slight lead was soon lost as Alice Fennell from HFC scored on the buzzer to tie the game at 21 piece at the end of the first half.
The energetic pace continued into the second half and HFC's Mattews came out of the blocks with a quick score to put her team ahead. Although both teams were battling on each end of the court, HFC were clearly onto winning ways as Coláiste Íosagáin couldn't contain HFC's dominating star player, Russell.
The game finished 44-34 to HFC.

ST FINTAN’S 45 PRES BRAY 38.
St. Fintan's Sutton are ther U19 A All Ireland Schools League champions after a hard fought 45-38 victory over Pres Bray.
The game, initially abandoned due to Bray's Lorcan Murphy's injury last week, picked up from where it left off as the Bray side led 9 - 5 with 4:27 on the clock in the first quarter.
It was a close game throughout with Michael Westbrooks St Fintans just edging it 23-22 at half time.
Marie O’Toole’s team came out on fire in the third quarter and stretched into a nine point lead but the lads from Sutton never gave up with Ciaran Roe, Conor McKracken, Dean Creagan and Mikey Deegan upping the ante but Pres still led 33-30 at the end of the quarter.
The fans from both schools were in great voice in the fourth quarter as Fintan’s came fighting back and when Ciaran Roe hit back to back baskets that was the signal for their own version of the
POZNAN behind the basket.
Despite the best efforts of Andy Bartley, Brendan O'Neill and David Mackin Fintans held on for a memorable victory.
